Sandakan:

Over 100 Sabahan entrepreneurs and business leaders gathered at Sabah Hotel, Sandakan on 15 April 2025 for the Market Readiness: Singapore Market seminar — a high-impact knowledge-sharing event aimed at helping local businesses explore trade opportunities in Singapore.

Organised by the Sabah Trade and Tourism Office Singapore (STTOS) and the Singapore Cooperation Enterprise (SCE), with support from MATRADE Sabah, the Sandakan Tourist Association, and the Sabah Young Business & Industry Leaders Network (SYBIL), the seminar served as a key platform for dialogue, guidance, and collaboration.

The event featured seasoned experts including Wee Chin Chuan (Consultant, SCE), Adli Haikal (Director, MATRADE Sabah), David Tan (Emeritus President, Singapore Food Manufacturer’s Association), and Kane McGuinn (CEO, Atlas Aquaculture). Speakers offered valuable insights into export procedures, F&B potential, seafood industry access, and Singapore’s business landscape.

Entrepreneurs actively participated in discussions and received tailored advice on export-readiness and business expansion. A highlight was the attendance of YB Puan Vivian Wong Shir Yee, Member of Parliament for Sandakan, who emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships in boosting Sabah’s trade ties with Singapore.

This initiative, supported by the Ministry of Industrial Development & Entrepreneurship (MIDE), reaffirms Sabah’s commitment to empowering its SMEs and building international business bridges.
