At the Mediterranean Tourism Forum meeting held here on Wednesday, Maltese Tourism Minister Clayton Bartolo urged the use of cutting-edge digital solutions in the tourism industry.
According to Bartolo, "As Maltese, and as the Mediterranean region, we should strive to be more innovative in the way we preserve cultural traditions alongside the present and future through technology."
After the meeting, a declaration was made that included commitments to support ethical, high- quality, sustainable tourism as well as a stronger cooperative effort to protect the tourism interests of the region.
Bartolo noted that the Mediterranean is being impacted by climate change and stated that "we need to work together more internationally to continue encouraging more innovation to create a tourism model based on sustainability for the next ten years."
