MELAKA:

According to Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, the state government has taken the lead in revitalizing the region and bolstering the tourism industry through a variety of policies and programs.
According to him, this was consistent with the state's objective of being one of the top three travel destinations in Malaysia and the world.
"The state administration has prepared 76 tourism events, including 30 major events spread out over the year, for the VMY2024 campaign. There will be programs with various themes and activities every month.
"At the same time, the state government has also planned many alluring rewards, such as seven automobiles, for fortunate travelers who spend a minimum of RM500 during their visit and stay at least two nights in particular state-run hotels.
He declared, "Every three months, there will be a lucky draw and a car awaits the winners," during the VMY2024 launch on Sunday night at the Dataran Pengkalan Rama.
Yang di-Pertua Negeri, and Tun Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam, presided over the ceremony.
Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, the Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture; Datuk Ibrahim Durum, the Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly; Datuk Zaidi Johari, the State Secretary; and Datuk Abd Razak Abd Rahman, the Exco, were also in attendance.
In attendance were Datuk Seri Dr. Syed Hussian Aljunid, Group Chairman of Media Prima Bhd (MPB); Datuk Mohd Efendi Omar, Chief Operating Officer of MPB Omnia; Datuk Ahmad Zaini Kamaruzzaman, Group Managing Editor of The New Straits Times Press (NSTP); and Azhari Muhidin, Deputy Editor of MPB Television Networks News and Current Affairs Group.
The official media for VMY2024 is MPB.
According to Ab Rauf, the state administration will also roll out discount coupons for VMY2024, which will give participants at 28 participating locations between January 1 and December 31 savings ranging from 5 to 55 percent.
He stated that the state government has enhanced Melaka with additional attractions including the Sungai Linggi Eco Cruise, the Melaka River Floating Market, and car-free zones to further enhance the mood for VMY2024.
He claimed that doing this would provide tourists and visitors to the ancient state more options for places to go.
"As such, I invite everyone to come to Melaka and experience the major events and new tourism products offered by the state," he stated.
