The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Travel Unity, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion in the travel and tourism sector.
Finalized in January 2025, the two-year agreement underscores a shared commitment to fostering a more inclusive, accessible, and equitable tourism industry while driving sustainable growth across the Asia-Pacific region.
PATA CEO Noor Ahmad Hamid emphasized the significance of the collaboration, stating, “This partnership with Travel Unity reaffirms PATA’s dedication to creating a tourism industry that values diversity and provides opportunities for all. Together, we aim to drive meaningful change, ensuring that travel continues to serve as a powerful force for connection, empowerment, and progress.”
Key Initiatives Under the Partnership
As part of the collaboration, PATA and Travel Unity will Promote joint events and activities, offering reciprocal speaking opportunities. Provide exclusive benefits for their members, including discounts, early bird offers, and enhanced networking opportunities with key industry buyers.Launch human capital development programs, conducting workshops and cohort training for PATA’s youth community, covering topics such as sustainability and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
These initiatives aim to educate and empower the next generation of tourism professionals while building a more diverse and skilled workforce for the industry.
Travel Unity Executive Director Roni Weiss expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “Travel Unity was founded on the belief that travel has the power to unite people of all backgrounds and identities. This collaboration with PATA allows us to expand the global impact of inclusive practices, bringing our mission more deeply into the Asia-Pacific region.
