Perak allocates over RM10 million for tourism related programmes

Over RM10 million has been allocated by the State Government of Perak to upgrade and introduce different programmes in order to increase tourist activity and promote growth.

State Housing, Local Government and Tourism committee chairman Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohamed Radzi said, the Tourism Perak will receive RM 7 million while other agencies will receive the remaining sum.

"The allocation is given to ensure that the state tourism products are well maintained and in satisfactory condition to encourage tourists to continue visiting Perak.

"Indirectly the provision shows the state government’s deep concern over the welfare of tourism industry players who have been impacted by the Covid-19 outbreak,” she told a press conference .

Nolee Ashilin said three months ago, the work to upgrade tourism products in the state began, covering different places that could draw tourists.

"Top on the list to open early next year are the Tanjung Tualang Tin  Dredge No. 5 or TT5 Dredge and the Datuk Lat Gallery in Batu Gajah.

"Upgrading works are in progress at Ban Pecah in Tanjung Piandang and Pulau Bangau in Teluk Intan which we will introduce as new attractions in Perak," she said.

In another development, a special committee was set up to track the arrival of tourists on the island of Pangkor in Lumut in order to ensure compliance with the government's standard operating procedures  (SOP).
