The Perak Government will introduce new attractions in place of the Movie Animation Park Studios (MAPS) theme park that closed last week.
Exco Tourism, Arts and Culture Exco Tan Kar Hing said among the attractions were the Ipoh Lights and Sounds Show in Ipoh Field, Digital Library and more.
He said the new attractions are expected to be completed and accessible to the public starting this year.
"At the moment we have other plans. Of course MAPS is one of the tourist attractions but now its closed and there may be an impact (tourist presence).
"But we will try to create new plans or attractions around Ipoh as well as outside of Ipoh that could fill the void due to the closure of MAPS," he told reporters .
Kar Hing said in addition to the closure of the MAPS, the spread of coronaviruses was also a factor contributing to the decline in tourist arrivals to Perak.
In another development on the preparation of the Perak State Chinese New Year Celebration 2020 scheduled for February 6, he said he was pleased with the preparations.
He said stringent security measures were taken by placing several security agencies such as the police, the Civil Defense Force (APM), the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) and members of the Malaysian Volunteer Department (Rela) at the scene.
Meanwhile, Kar Hing said the public did not have to worry about attending the ceremony following the coronavirus case as he had already consulted Deputy Health Minister Dr Lee Boon Chye.
Chinese New Year Celebration 2020 Perak State is expected to be attended by Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah with Perak Empress King, Tuanku Zara Salim.
