Qatar has reinstated visa-on-arrival (VOA) policies, replacing Hayya card requirements, which were put into place for the FIFA World Cup in the country. So, now visitors from more than 95 nationalities can enjoy this facility and explore new attractions that have opened in the lead up to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
If reports are to go by, Indian visitors will also be able to avail free visa-on-arrival in Qatar by fulfilling certain conditions. Indian nationals can get a free VOA in Qatar for a maximum stay of 30 days or as per the hotel reservation and under the following conditions: valid passport for at least six months, confirmed return tickets, and confirmed hotel reservation through 'Discover Qatar' website only. Do note, hotel reservations from other websites are not accepted.
Some of the football tournament’s most recognisable hotspots are still open and ready to welcome guests from around the world in Qatar. One can also enjoy various cuisines and culture in Souq Waqif and Katara Cultural Village, while travellers can also enjoy sights of the Doha Port and Corniche, among many other attractions.
With regard to the latest travel rules, Haya Al-Noami, Head of Promotions Sector, Qatar Tourism, said, “Looking back at the end of a truly remarkable month of celebrations, we are so proud to have hosted some of the year’s most memorable moments. We are confident that Qatar’s iconic attractions, warmth and openness, and infectious enthusiasm will continue to draw in visitors and residents toward the end of the year and into the next.”
As such, general entry requirements for VOA for 95 countries will include a valid passport, confirmed round-trip ticket and a confirmed hotel reservation during the visit period. Meanwhile, citizens of Qatar's neighbouring countries - Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and UAE - will continue to enjoy visa free entry into the nation, if they have a passport with at least six months of validity.
