The Kita Selangor 2.0 package has been announced by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, with a total allocation of RM551.56 million.
The package's incentives are designed to help inhabitants of Selangor who have been afflicted by the Covid-19 epidemic.
The 2.0 package, which has the theme of ‘Succeed Together,' also contains an RM2.55 million allocation for the state's tourism industry, which would be channeled through four incentive categories:
• Grant incentive programme/ Selangor’s tourism promotional activities
• Selangor’s Tourism Vouchers 2.0
• Selangor’s Tourism Digitalisation training programme
• One-Off incentive to 16 tourism associations in the state.
This economic stimulus program, according to Selangor tourism and environment committee chairman Hee Loy Sian, is aimed at reviving the state's tourism industry.
It also tries to encourage industry operators in the state to keep up their promotional and marketing efforts.
When the pandemic is over and travelers begin to return, these activities will be critical in establishing Selangor as the preferred and leading travel destination in the country.
He went on to say that the allocation to the tourism business in the state was as follows:
Selangor's tourism promotion activities/grant incentive scheme
This RM1 million program will be used to help Selangor's tourist industry recover through a reimbursable financial assistance method that industry players can claim for expenses incurred in the execution of tourism promotional campaigns.
The maximum claimable amount based on a single entry/execution is 50% of the entire cost, or RM20,000, whichever is lower.
Tourism Vouchers 2.0 in Selangor
The second phase of Selangor's tourism voucher subsidy would be funded with an additional RM1 million. To ensure that the general public is eligible to redeem these tourism certificates, a total of 20,000 units worth RM50 each will be distributed via the e-commerce platform.
The Tourism Digitalization Training Program in Selangor Tourism Selangor will team up with the Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (SIDEC) to host a virtual Selangor Tourism Digitalisation training program, with the goal of raising tourism awareness and improving industry players' skills, knowledge, and productivity in online marketing and digitalisation. This strategy will set you back about RM300,000.
16 tourism associations will receive a one-time bonus.
In the lack of financial aid from the state, tourism associations in Selangor are struggling to fulfill their duties and functions in giving support to all of its registered members.
Recognizing this, a one-time incentive of RM240,000 will be distributed to 16 tourism associations in Selangor, with each receiving RM15,000 to carry out promotional activities that are intended to maintain the industry's momentum strong in the state.
