MALAYSIA:

Tourism Malaysia, in collaboration with the Malaysian Indian Travel & Tours Association (MITTA), has successfully concluded its extensive roadshow across four key cities in India. Following well-received events in Trivandrum on September 23, Calicut on September 25, and Bhubaneswar on September 27, the roadshow culminated in Guwahati on September 30. This initiative marks a significant step in enhancing Malaysia’s visibility in the Indian travel market and showcasing its diverse tourism offerings.

The roadshow was designed to foster stronger connections with Indian travel agents while highlighting Malaysia’s appeal as a premier travel destination. Ahmad Johanif Mohd Ali, Director of Tourism Malaysia Delhi, underlined the importance of the roadshow, stating, “Our roadshow is a strategic move to engage directly with Indian travel agents. We are eager to showcase Malaysia’s vibrant culture, stunning landscapes, and exceptional hospitality, ensuring that travel agents have the latest information to offer their clients.”

One of the key highlights of the roadshow was the participation of 25 prominent Malaysian hoteliers and travel agents, who engaged in one-on-one business meetings with their Indian counterparts. This interaction fostered collaborations and opened doors for new opportunities, further solidifying Malaysia’s ties with the Indian market. The initiative also served as a prelude to the much-anticipated Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign, which aims to position Malaysia as a top global travel destination.

Noriah Jaafar, Director of Tourism Malaysia Mumbai, commented on the event, stating, “With direct flight connections from major Indian cities, including the recently resumed service by Air India after a 16-year hiatus, Malaysia is more accessible than ever. Our roadshow is designed to highlight the ease of travel and the multitude of experiences Malaysia offers to all types of travellers.”

Malaysia’s diverse tourism offerings cater to a wide range of interests, from family vacations and romantic getaways to solo adventures and cultural explorations. Shahrim Tan, Deputy Director of Tourism Malaysia Chennai, emphasized, “Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage and modern attractions make it an ideal destination for Indian tourists. We are excited to introduce our unique travel experiences and hospitality to more Indian travellers through this roadshow.”

The roadshow also spotlighted the excellent connectivity provided by airlines such as Malaysia Airlines, Batik Air, AirAsia, and Indigo. The presence of these airlines, along with the renewed Air India service, underscores Malaysia’s commitment to providing seamless travel options for Indian tourists. Dato Aruldass A., President of the Malaysian Indian Travel & Tours Association (MITTA), remarked, “Our collaboration with Tourism Malaysia and the engagement of Malaysian travel professionals will offer invaluable insights into the opportunities for Indian travellers. We are enthusiastic about the potential partnerships and the growth of tourism between Malaysia and India.”

The roadshow generated significant interest and enthusiasm among Indian travel agents, providing them with a comprehensive understanding of Malaysia’s offerings. By bridging the gap between Malaysia’s tourism industry and Indian travel professionals, this event is expected to drive increased travel to Malaysia and contribute to the success of the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign.
