Tourism Malaysia proudly unveiled the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VM2026) campaign at the Malaysia Networking Dinner held at Hotel Pullman, Aerocity, New Delhi. The prestigious event was inaugurated by H.E. Dato’ Muzafar Shah Mustafa, High Commissioner of Malaysia to India, along with Mr. Ahmad Johanif Mohd Ali, Director, Tourism Malaysia Delhi, in the presence of esteemed guests from the travel trade, airline industry, and media.
A key highlight of the evening was the official unveiling of the VM2026 logo, featuring Wira and Manja – the Malayan Sun Bears as the campaign mascots. The vibrant logo symbolizes Malaysia’s rich biodiversity, cultural harmony, and deep-rooted commitment to sustainable tourism.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Ahmad Johanif Mohd Ali, Director, Tourism Malaysia Delhi, said: “Visit Malaysia Year 2026 is not just a tourism campaign; it is an invitation to experience Malaysia’s warmth, diversity, and natural wonders. India remains one of our most important markets, and we are committed to making Malaysia even more accessible and appealing for Indian travellers. With the visa-free initiative, improved connectivity, and a strong focus on sustainable tourism, we aim to welcome more Indian visitors and provide them with unforgettable experiences.”
The VM2026 campaign, officially launched on January 6, 2025, is built on the core pillars of high-yield and sustainable tourism. It emphasizes quality experiences across luxury, MICE, and eco-tourism while ensuring responsible travel that preserves Malaysia’s natural and cultural heritage. The campaign also encourages Malaysians – from tour guides and business owners to artists – to share their stories and showcase the country’s renowned hospitality to the world.
Malaysia has witnessed an exceptional surge in Indian tourist arrivals, recording 1,133,331 Indian visitors between January and December 2024. This marks a 47% increase compared to 2019 and a 71.7% rise from 2023, highlighting the growing preference for Malaysia as a top destination among Indian travellers. India continues to be Malaysia’s second-largest inbound market after China for the medium-haul segment, and Tourism Malaysia remains committed to further strengthening this relationship.
To further boost Indian arrivals, Malaysia has extended the 30-day visa-free entry for Indian nationals, making travel more convenient. This initiative has significantly shortened the travel decision-making period – from the previous 60-80 days to just two weeks – resulting in a rise in last-minute bookings.
Malaysia’s increasing accessibility has been further strengthened through direct flights from major Indian cities, thanks to the support of airline partners. The destination continues to attract Indian travellers through its diverse tourism offerings, including destination weddings, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Exhibitions), family vacations, and eco-tourism experiences. From breath-taking resorts for dream weddings to world-class convention facilities for business travellers, Malaysia remains an ideal destination catering to Indian tourists’ unique preferences.
With Visit Malaysia Year 2026, Tourism Malaysia looks forward to welcoming more Indian travellers and offering them a wide range of authentic experiences, world-class hospitality, and unforgettable journeys.
