University Malaysia Kelantan's faculty of Hospitality, Tourism & Wellness is a hidden gem in Hospitality education. Not much is known about this faculty. It was a great opportunity to meet the Dean of the Faculty Dr Roslizawati Che Aziz who took the helm of the Faculty early this year and is a dynamic personality who is driving the hidden gem into a new wave of hospitality & tourism education.

The Faculty offers programs in Hospitality, Tourism and Wellness programs from Undergraduate to Postgraduate studies. The Faculty located at Pengkalan Chepa Kota Bahru is a 10 minutes drive from Ismail Petra Airport. Established in 2008 the faculty has created programs in hospitality focusing on entrepreneurship a rare combination which instils new skills making the graduates employable. The Faculty is moving towards achieving its mission statement of becoming a leader in hotel education, tourism and health management with a strong emphasis on wellness and being an important player in providing knowledgeable and highly skilled human resources to provide quality services in the areas of hospitality, tourism and health management.

DHS would collaborate with the Faculty to provide placement for students in Singapore, the Faculty through its community approach promote the programs brought forward by DHS ASIANA a joint venture program with ASIANA Hospitality Academy for B 40 families in Kota Bahru and also collaborate on learning resources with SKILLSPRO. The discussion was also attended by Dr Mohd Safwan Bin Ghazali, Director Centre for Entrepreneurship Education & Development, Dr Ahmad Fahme Mohd Ali, Deputy Dean (Research, Innovation and Postgraduate), Dr Ruzanifah Binti Kosnin Deputy Dean (Academic and Student Development from the Faculty, Lecturers and Mr Eric Yu of ASIANA Hospitality Academy.

DHS being the premier hospitality academy in Malaysia linked to 17 Universities in Malaysia and a total of 82 learning centres throughout Malaysia has been the pioneer in offering the Singapore Attachment program where 3000 youths have gained in this program. The Malaysian Tourism Council awarded the Gold Award for Education Tourism to DHS recently. With the intent of collaboration, DHS would embark on making the Faculty as the inroad into hospitality training and retraining in the east coast region.
